Beginning January 1, 2012, the San Diego County Recorder's Office will not abbreviate any word written into the Grantor/Grantee index. All words will appear in the index as written on the recorded document. If the document contains an abbreviation then the index will contain the same abbreviation.
In the past, hundreds of words such as Bank, Company, Trustee etc. were abbreviated as, BK, CO, TR etc,. This practice was initiated because of the limited length of space allocated in the electronic format and was potentially confusing. We are no longer constrained by the length of space.
Government Code, Section 6107, prohibits the display of Military Discharge documents. For a copy of a Military Discharge document, please come to any office of the Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk or click here for DD214 Application by mail.
The Grantor/Grantee Index is provided as a public service for your convenience. Updates and corrections occur on a daily basis; however, neither the County nor the Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk shall incur any liability for errors or omissions with respect to the information provided in this index. Neither the County nor the Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk is liable for information obtained from the Grantor/Grantee Index and displayed or retained by commercial search-engine provider services or other third parties.
